The open education field has been building for more than twenty years. Founded in 2025, the Open Education Association provides a national voice and connective tissue for efforts across the United States. The association advocates for supportive policies, coordinates across initiatives, and runs programming to help practitioners do their work more effectively. It also supports key field infrastructure including the annual Open Education Conference and monthly OpenEd Digest.
